John (tobidog) has asked (on 11 July!):

I am trying to get Photo5 back into use. The author Matt Ripley has provided what he believes are the 3 passwords but has forgotten how to use them to register it!

I can get the first numberr accepted at the Registration option but it drops out on entering the second so there must be a "trick".

Any ideas?

I am using a 5MX

Regards

John

Here's my belated report on using PsionFlexi again.

I sent my 5mx to Paul on 13th March, and on the 28th got an email saying Paul had posted it back; it was with me on the 31st.

I paid £45 to have a new screen cable fitted, £6 for repair of DC socket, £4 for repair of the open/close switch, £2 for a new backup battery.

I paid £4.75 for registered postage sending it, which insured it for £200.

Everything's fine so far!

Hi, Thomas. I put it in Psion Devices - seems logical ?

Hi Chris!

Where has the Netbook pro gone now???

The only problem is: all special statistics do not work with 500, only the summary works.
But anyway, no problem.

Another milestone: i feeded Google with the URL and now Psionwiki is with 71 pages listed in the index:

Off for a week ... by Chris CooperChris Cooper, 11 Feb 2008 01:29

We certainly need to be careful about being orderly, Damian - I'm conscious that some pages are muddled. The separation you suggest could be part of that. I need to do some organizing!

On a slightly different topic: I also think that pages carrying lists of links to external sources should be distinct from pages carrying actual content - just because mixing the two looks a mess (the Psion Knowhow page is an example).

So I also need to find out about using page templates in WikiDot.

Re: CompactFlash problem by Chris CooperChris Cooper, 07 Feb 2008 12:20

Presumably anyone who was interested in having these statistics could take a daily snapshot of the statistics for the last 500 pageloads and store these?

Re: Stats by Chris CooperChris Cooper, 07 Feb 2008 11:59

Crazy business model!

Normally stats are free, even from external providers like motigo.com.

It's not worth the money, because the log is a simple text file - base for statistics.

For that cost the basic info should be enough.

Re: Milestones by Psionwelt-dePsionwelt-de, 06 Feb 2008 16:21

Hmmm. This is the first I've heard about this!

But now I understand from StatCounter info that:

All projects come with lifetime summary stats and a detailed analysis of your last 500 pageloads to your website. However for a free service we are limited by the size of your visitor log that we can perform this analysis on.

But it's possible to:

Increase Your Log Quota to 1,500 for just
US$9 / EUR7 a month!
US$25 / EUR19 a quarter!
US$89 / EUR69 a year!

Increase Your Log Quota to 10,000 for just
US$19 / EUR15 a month!
US$49 / EUR39 a quarter!
US$189 / EUR149 a year!

Increase Your Log Quota to 25,000 for just
US$29 / EUR24 a month!
US$79 / EUR65 a quarter!
US$289 / EUR239 a year!
Increase Your Log Quota to 50,000 for just
US$39 / EUR30 a month!
US$109 / EUR79 a quarter!
US$399 / EUR299 a year!

Increase Your Log Quota to 100,000 for just
US$49 / EUR35 a month!
US$139 / EUR99 a quarter!
US$499 / EUR379 a year!

What do you think would be a good idea, Thomas? Several of us here might be willing to contribute. (But I can't be specific - my wife might have an unfavourable opinion about yet more spending on Psion, my boy's toy …) Can you persuade us that we need detailed stats?

Re: Milestones by Chris CooperChris Cooper, 04 Feb 2008 21:39

Oops, I forgot to put a description on my last edit, and I'm usually quite good at doing that too. Anyway, I've stuck the above problem and solution into this section for want of a better place, but I think some reorganisation might be in order before we get too many disparate problems and solutions listed. It might be a good idea to agree a standard formatting for Q/A sections, too.

How should this be organised? I'd suggest separate pages for Internal applications, Third-party applications, Programming and Hardware. If the knowhow section was kept to Q/A format then it wouldn't necessarily clash with other sections already on the site (e.g. programming and hardware) where more general information and tutorials would belong.

What do people think of this idea?

CompactFlash problem by Damian WalkerDamian Walker, 02 Feb 2008 09:41

You are welcome!

And the small but stable Psion community should stand together!

BTW: Could you open up the log size (500 lines now) for better web statistics?

I added in-page links (anchors) for easier navigation!
Maybe a quick step before splitting it up in single pages, but anyway…

PsionWiki announced in PsionWelt.de …

… some time ago:

Neues Wiki zu Psion … Mittwoch, 16.01.2008

Viel Erfolg!

Many thanks, Thomas!

PsionFlexi

I had a screen-cable repair to my 5mx in November 2006. After 14 months my screen has begun to show intermittent 'jailbar' effects again - the sure sign of cable failure. This is fair enough - PsionFlexi's guarantee, if I recall correctly, was for 3 months. But it's sad that the everlasting screen cable never got invented. Nonetheless, I'll doubtless be sending my little grey brick off to Paul at PsionFlexi again - after having googled to confirm he's still the best value going.

Feel free to raid my games database for entries. You'll need to do a Google search to find download links, though, which will make it a time consuming process.

Then we may split up the list in its letters. Each page for each letter…
By the way, I created that list building on the existance of Color Icons from pscience5.net. If you want me to, I can search for working links for more Psion software, is there a list more bigger than this?

by Jonas BarkJonas Bark, 23 Jan 2008 16:42

This fantastic list - thanks, Jonas! - will be the core of a huge amount of PsionWiki's content. A major function of PsionWiki will be to develop these links: sometimes adding further sources, linking to user groups, linking to user comments on PsionWiki itself … The logical place to put these is right beneath the relevant entry in this list. I've made a start by adding just one link to one small comment on one piece of software (psiMind).

I can imagine the list plus further links getting so huge that one day it will have to be spread over several pages.

I wanted to use a bullet point, but it creates a large space above and below the link, so instead Idid what you see here. There must be a way of editing the formatting of bullet points.
